This entire group of sites has digitizing of questionable value. Some of the redwork or simple outlines may not be bad, but anything I have looked at with fill stitches and outlines have been auto digitized, and are full of jumps, mis-matched fill stitches, and outlines that are way out of register. These are not worth the download time, and certainly not the thread and stabilizer to sew out. Stick with good digitizers. Better to get a good design you have to pay for than a lousy one for free, less expensive in the end, saves lots of frustration. Best of luck, hugs, Marji
I did try these out and they are not very good at all...especially the outline work....
I actually had the same problem with a site that sells designs and a membership (they shall go un-named) and bought the membership and was really dissapointed to find that the designs in the membership was different then the ones shown on the site....they never told you this. And could see that they were auto-digitized...the same issue with fill & satin also outlines being one part one color and another part being another color...no rhyme or reason for it. She is still up and running and selling her designs. It looks like she has improved some but still is selling these awful designs, I feel she should take them down and rework them or remove them all together. I will never ever deal with her again...I guess she is out for the money and is O.K. with selling inferior designs.
Here's an example of what she sold me for my membership!!! Wow can you imagine!!
That is really barefaced to show different designs: One to stimulate the people to buy a membership and then give them trash.
Hope you didn't pay too much for this strange experience...
Greetings, Bettina
I paid for a month worth for $10.00 cancelled almost right away when I saw the designs, I didn't want it to renew :( I don't like posting the names of places that give you such bad service....but I almost feel like it in this case. Hopefully I can get a few of the simpler and somewhat better digitized designs to stitch out OK with a little editing.
I look at every design in embird first and in most of the cases I have to correct the colors for jef. I dl some of the sets from E-target (and they are from sweetembroidery) and made an overview first of all in embird of every set. Like on SICK they are differences in my opinion caused by the skills of the digitizers.
Never would start with a not tested design on a cloth or something like that.
Greetings, Bettina
I thought this site was related to the other one. I download very few free designs anymore, unless I know who it is. I won't be downloading any from them.
Thank you mops for the info. I guess I don't understand why someone would post designs if they are not good.
To those that mentioned about testing a design first....In most cases, I do a stitch out before putting it on anything good. I have been doing this for a few years, and have gotten good & bad designs, free and paid for.
To be able to answer your question I downloaded the current free set. Here's a picture of one of them.
The designs are clearly auto-digitised. All fill areas are at a 45 degree angle (which might cause problems with push and pull of the fabric, leaving gaps), the choice for satin stitch instead of a fill stitch is very illogical: see the 2 handles (colour #5) and the 2 green areas (colour #1). The lines in the right hand ball cross the outline.
Others of the series have similar problems and moreover there are lines that don't connect and unnecessary thread changes due to a strange stitching order. I found no jumps in these, so that's okay.
So have a look in your software (if you have it) and test the designs before you try sewing them on a good project!
I use to download from sweet embroidery and the problems I had was that with filled designs there were satin stitches where they were not suppose to be example one leg or arm, further the colors at times were wrong and the object not split to be able to change it. The lips and hair would be one object and would then be both red. When I looked at the filled designs from Embtarget on my software it seemed that some of the designs had the same problems. Must however mention that there were great designs on Sweetemb which I have used in the past and I am sure that Embtarget will also have the good ones. I will however take good care before just stitch them on a project without testing - have not used any Embtarget although I have downloaded some. Like Carldann as soon as I see they are not good I have deleted.
yes i have stitched out lots from sweet embrodery, mainly the bw ones and they all turned out great, but i don't dig. and i can't tell you more ,hugs carolyn
They are part of mysweetembroidery. The designs I had from them did not stitch out well. I deleted them all. This was over a year ago, maybe they have gotten better. I don't dl freebies anymore, just the ones our cuties do for us. Be sure and do a test stitch out. Hugs...Carol
Only let my simulation do one, lots of jumps. Would certainly do a "see how it works" stichout first.
