Has anyone had any experience with the Magna-Hoop? I have a Janome 300e and am thinking of getting one, but am interested in the thoughts of others who may have used one.
2497 I bought one, and there are times that it is invaluable, but I must confess, I don't use it except for specialty stuff. It does work, like it says it will. One of my magnets broke and they promptly sent me a new set and I feel much more comfortable using 6 at a time, but not because the number supplied slipped or anything, but because when you are monogramming on the lining of a several thousand dollar mink coat, you get a little jumpy. If you do lots of velvet work or very very tiny work it is great. It does ribbon beautifully. ;)

Mink coats in Georgia don't get worm much. They mostly stay in cold storage. I read once that the Dalton area had more millionaires per capita of all the state. Must be nice.

19369 I don't own one but considered it until the Baby Lock groups on Yahoo I belong to started discussing them. Like some of the other members here mentioned it does have it's uses but it is not suppose to be all that it's cracked up to be. With the cost of some of these peripherals for embroidery machines I guess you must consider if it is worth the cost.If you had a physical limitation that this would help out with it would probably be a matter of need I guess but if you are like me and give away most of your projects or just make enough money to pay for the thread it isn't usually worth while. Keep asking other embroiderers... Most retailers will tell you what they think you want to hear to sell you things...I learned that the hard way. All the 'great' reviews I have seen on these are by people that sell them. Places like SewForLess (NOT an endorsement!) is giving gift cards with their purchase. When you see that it usually means they are pushing to get rid of them because of slow sales. I would be sure to ask for a 'deal' if I were to buy one. Maybe look for one that has not been used at an auction site like eBay or similar? I know when I got rid of my Janome I had tons of accessories I had never even taken out of the box. Some lucky eBay really got a treasure when they bought that machine! I agree with another member that said 'If the commercial shops don't use them how efficient and sturdy could they be?'. Just my opinion tho...
1242 I have the Magna Hoop. I've only had it about 6 weeks. I thought the price was a bit much. . .but took the plunge anyway. You hoop your stabilizer in your hoop and then add the metal frame, the fabric, the clear plexiglass frame and then the magnets. At that point you're sure it's not going to hold. . .but it does! For my daughter I just bought the clamps that hold your fabric outside of the hoops (costs about $5 on ebay) and it works just as well in many cases. Wouldn't use it on fragile fabric though.

It's a hoop that uses magnets to hold fabric in place, small bits that wont fit in the hoop, akward shapes, delicate fabrics to avoid hoop burn, etc. It is used in conjunction with the original machine hoop and giga hoop. there is a website for it. But I was hoping to get real opinions rather than the manufacturers opinion, if you know what I mean. But thanks for your reply.
