Embroidery Deduper:::: An Explanation of the reason for their licencing policy, and I find this totally reasonable as it is piracy that reduces research & development to provide better programs.

"The licensing model has been in place
since we started selling the Deduper. It
works well for most customers and we offer
secondary license at a discounted price of
$23.00. The Deduper is licensed this way
due to piracy concerns. Most PC software
is licensed this way for the same reason.
It's just that some companies enforce
it programmatically and others just use
lawyers, scare tactics, or don't
enforce it at all and just overcharge for
the products to make up for the losses due
to piracy. Again, this licensing model has
worked well for us, particularly with the
discounted pricing on the secondary
licenses."

"As for the design storage / filing
program, we do offer a free zip file with a
bunch of empty category folders. This can
help some people with getting ideas on how
to organize things. However, I'm
thinking that you're talking about a
full-blown cataloging type of software. We
are definitely considering this, but it
will take some time. It's very
difficult from a technical perspective, due
to the proprietary design formats.
Hopefully, we'll have something to
offer in that regard in the
future."
