Most places in the United States do this as well, Sissi. But there are some places, cities or states, that don't change times for summer and winter. That can be confusing. However, we only change time by one hour here, I did not know Europe did 2 hours. I think if we did 2 hours, in the shortest days it would be dark at 15:30, and people would begin to jump off tall buildings!!! Bad enough to be dark at 16:30, hee hee hee. Interesting question! Hugs, Marji

we only go back one hour in Europe. So we have wintertime right now.

sissibrode by sissibrode 25 Oct 2009

Yes, just one hour Marji :o)

Marji, Were you in the service or have you worked for the postal service. You used military time and you don't see that very often. Funny question, huh?

marjialexa by marjialexa 26 Oct 2009

Oh, sorry Denise, broadcasting for many years, everything has to be logged in military time so there's no confusion. And, my late husband was a Marine. So, if I'm on autopilot you may get the 24 hour clock, hee hee hee.

Not a problem Marji. I know what you're saying. I work for the postal service and we use military time for everything and sometimes I catch myself using it too. Just thought it was funny! Denise

one of the causes of Fibromyalgia is not getting rested sleep. Time changes don't help. I am on Eastern daylight savings here. Georgia

Someone should tell my cats about the change in time. daylight is daylight to them. We should choose the time and then leave it. Changing is very confusing as I tend to change back when I should change forward, My household has too many clocks to change it each time.

This is confusing, specially when you live at the border from another state. I didnt have this in Japan :)
I live next to the QLD state, which doesn't change time like NSW. We are 1 hour ahead in summer time. I have clocks with labels to show me what time is in NSW and QLD. The good thing: I can watch good TV shows and see the new years fireworks twice :)

You have all the answers u need sissi. Me I just wish they would leave time alone. My body never adjusts. I'll wake up by 5 whether it's 4, 5 or 6 AM by the clock. *4U

Here, in Portugal, we changed the hour too; 2 am became 1 am. It will be dark earlier.. I hate it!...

In US we will "fall back" one hour Nov. 1. I LOVE that as I get to sleep an hour later. But hate the spring when I lose that hour! I think it's sorta silly..pick a time & stay with it! It'll either be darker earlier or later...you still have the same hours in the day!

The whole of the EU changed time. Allegedly is saves energy, although the daylight we gain in the morning, we loose in the afternoon. But I'll wake up early for at least a week and feel peckish at the wrong times...

Sissi, this is one I have never understood, what is the reason for messing with the times?????? I do know years ago here in the USA it was so that farmers had more daylight to get their crops in. Yes, we have to mess with the time here to, I believe acouple years ago it was changed to different months when we sprang forward and fell back. H&*.

they use the same reason in the UK for Scottish farmers.

Here it was established during the first oil crisis to save energy in 1973 (?)...
It seems that with this time change, we save the lighting of a town of 250 000 inhabitants

    sorry 1976 i think....

Well here in spain we changed too sissy, loved the extra hour, but hate it when we have one less.
And yes it takes a few days with sleep and meal times to get used to.
    Hugs Edith

We too in the UK chanaged our clocks last night. 2 am became 1 am. Changing this way I cope with - but the change in the spring leaves me with the feeling of jet lag.

Our times don't change in South Africa, but it does affect me because I have a daughter in England and their time changed overnight as well. Now when we Skype them , we have to be more conscious of the 2 hour time difference. *4U

In canada we do spring forward fall back so at the end of October we go back one hour. I beleive the spring one is around easter but would have to refer to a calender for exact date. So sissi does it get darker sooner now that is what will happen to us. By 5 pm it will be dark after the time change. Hugs Lisa
