If you're going to sew on that heavy side seam, you might want to slow the machine down, too, that's a lot of thickness to go through with embroidery. I like Shirlene's idea, sounds easier, and I'll go with easy any day! Hugs, Marji

If you are making the pants, you trace the pattern onto the fabric, embroider the design, then re-trace the pattern before cutting it out. This gives you enough fabric to work with in the hoop and allows for the pull "shrinking" the fabric and decreasing the size. I learned this technique from classes at my dealer and use it all the time. It works great for those baby/toddler clothes I've been making.

If you are just wanting to embelish purchased slacks, then do as the others have suggested.

Thanks for sharing. I buy denim jeans sometimes and I always turn them into skirts. However; I do have so denim fabric that I am waiting to make something out of ;D *2U

I take the side seam out, stitch the design and then restitch the seam. Not hard to do at all. Give it a try!

Yup, just unstitch the inside seam, embroider away and then stitch it back up. Use a jeans needle for all of that 100/16 is the Schmetz number.

Monica, I resently read in a tutorial that you can stitch your design on a tuille netting - that is close to the color of you pants - then you cut the extra tuille away and stitch the design down on your pants either by hand or on the machine - that may still mean that you might have to unpick a seam to get the fabric flat to work with. In the past - I would have unpicked the seam and layed the flat on my frame and stitched away, then sewn up the seam. Good luck and let us know - what you decide to do. *4U

Are you talking about the floral on the lower half of the pants or the line of trim on the whole seam? To get the floral on the lower half of the pants the best way is to open up the inside leg seam. then you can lay the pants flat. You will need a heavier needle to get through the seams. But it would be best if you can lay your design just inside the seam so you don't have to go through all that thickness. I think the other pants have a purchased trim that you sew on.

I am talking about the first design that is going down the side seam with all the flowers. I've always admired those designs but don't want to tear anything up trying...LOL Thanks ;D *2U
