The idea was a quilt with a garden theme
and I chose a main color family of green
and blackberry purple. I had a small
cottage in mind, a wise woman is growing a
lot of herbs and magic plants in her
backyard. Of course there is a cat you
never see. Just her pawprints in the
flowerbeds.
I started with a list of words, many of
those names for the medical plants are old
and sound mystic- these words should be
written in a matching font.
I started a BIG collection of free fonts (I
add my favorite sites here- just to have
ONE benefit of it).
18966 Why this is a goof?
Again too much thinking about details and
not having a general concept to follow.
I NEED a design bord to arrange the patches
and start sewing when the quilt is ready!
for it.
After the first euphoric rush for a queen
sized quilt I end with this potential
pillow cases.... as ever.
Have a nice weekend

(today we germans celebrate our national
holiday: 20 years of reunion.)
18966 My dear a true artist u are. sounds simply marvelous. Saw some things at the Quilt Museum today that would have delighted you & from reading about them many started just as u are. *

Thank you so much!
What I had in mind with the "goofy
corner" was people saying: "nice
idea, but I could do better" and start
an own project avoiding my stupid
mistakes.
I still like my ideas, but I have to face
it: my skills are not this niveau.
I always want to dance before I can walk
upright.
SEIGHS.
53764 Oh, Eva, do I have to come over there and help you finish these projects, hee hee hee? You do such beautiful work! I just love this, the beautiful color choice, the cat, bird and butterfly wandering in the garden, kitty leaving her little footprints. She's probably looking for the catnip. You could make this the center of a lap quilt, and put big, big borders on it, or put large sashing between the blocks. My word, you used little tiny pieces, boy are you brave!! I still think I must renew my passport so I can come and help you finish these projects! Oh, by the way, hang a large piece of flannel on the wall, the blocks will adhere to it well enough to give you a "design wall". And the more I think of it, sashing in a shade of green, preferably with vines on it, would really hang it together. Hugs, Marji

Hi Marji,
yes, what I need desperately here is a
friend who loves quilting.
But even the fabric and patchwork shops are
closing here. No chance to set up a
quilting bee.
I am alone.... SNIFFLE ;-)
But wait! There is an UPS Shop in my
neighbourhood....
This would be the chance to create the most
expensive quilt in history. HEHEHE.
22364 First I tried to write on the fabric with a
fabric pen- my handwritig was ugly and
uneven.
So I decided to print out the word on paper
with a nice and plain computer font. But
the fabric was too dark for tracing.
So I built 2 towers from books with a small
gap between, put a lamp in there and
covered the building with a glass from a
picture frame. Now I had a lightbox to
trace the words to the fabric.
I tried different pens and inks and puffy
foam chemicals but the color always
diffused and it got untidy.
I tried the "gutta" contour paste
from my silk painting adventure (desaster,
here and there) and after this I had to
face it:
only embroidery could give the perfect
look.

whith a desperate and whiny voice:
I don't know!
This project turned out like a puzzle.
You take more and more pieces out of the
box but you never get the edge and corner
stones!
18966 It looks fabulous. It will be very interesting when you're done. Would you share some close ups of parts of the quilt?

89882 Eva what a beautiful idea! you must do and finish this quilt... and show it !!! :o)
58377 Eva this is so beautiful. You do have to finish it. I love quilts but never had the patience for them. I would love to see that one in the project pages.
7292 I think u must try and finish it, it looks lovely. Thanks also for the fonts sites.

7174 What a neat idea! So this is what got you
started on the idea of an embroidery
machine! (If it hadn't been that it
would have been something else.) I like
your nice garden-y colors.
What is the font with the flowery capital
letters?
Oh, I found it, I have it:

My word, has it been 20 years? Seems like yesterday, I cried such tears of joy, watching the wall come down, people with hammers breaking what governments had tried to keep upright. Bravo for Germany, and her people! Hugs, Marji
