with other extensions successfully; I just haven't been able to do that with these PES extensions.

64779 I am attempting to download cuties. I usually select the pes format and save to the desktop. When I attempt to open from the desktop, I get the message: Windows cannot topen this file. Windows needs to know what program created it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically or you can manually select from a list of programs on your computer". It then gives 2 options: "Use web service to find the appropriate program OR "Select the program from a list". From that point, I don't know what to do.

Windows can't open embroidery files of any type. See my message below. Good luck, Marji
87 What software do you have. I have a Bernina 180 & use Designer Version 4 software. I download to a memory stick, virus check, & then use the portfolio program to convert to ART to save to the hard drive. I usually download in PES & have no troube unless it is an updated version.
2314 I usually download to my desktop, transfer to a flash drive then when I want to stitch a design I use the flash drive with the embroidery machine. Is this how your Bernina works? I don't have a problem extracting the files, and I unzip them before I transfer them to the flash drive. Is extracting the problem or converting?
298 Ok, anything you're trying to open from your desktop is going to be opened by a program Windows knows, and Windows can't open embroidery files. In order to open an embroidery file, you have to have software of some sort, even like the Wilcom free software, or there is also one from Tajima. If there were a .jpg, a photo of the design, Windows would open your photo program to run that. What software do you use to look at your other designs? And if you use ART, why not just download the ART from Cute instead of the PES? I don't ever download to the desktop, I download to the folder where the design will live permanently, and then open them with my Janome Digitizer Pro or Design Gallery program. Good luck, let us know if this fixes your problem. Hugs, Marji
22885 I hope some of these guys can help u deex. welcome to cute u r among the very best & they will help all they can. Me when it comes to computers I am no help *
59004 Dee, did you ever get to download anything? Love to help, but really need more information to do that for you. Hugs, Marji
22885 Dee, a little more information, please. Are you trying to download the free designs from the Cute Embroidery site itself, or are you a paid member trying to download the Cute designs, or are you trying to download designs from Designs by Cuties, which is the section where Cuties give away designs they have digitized? It would make a difference in the answer. Designs on the Cute site can be downloaded in ART as well as a number of other file extensions, you just have to choose which one in the box provided. What do you mean "can't download"? Are you not getting the download page, is the file empty, what is the exact problem? The more you can explain, the better we can help. Just add your answer to this question, to keep it all in one place, and we'll do our best for you. I see you're new, so I'm adding a big cute WELCOME, too!! Hugs, Marji
