Monica, I don't hoop very many materials - if they even look like they would hold a mark from the hoop - I hoop the stabilizer and pin the material and a topping stabilizer on top - then remove the pins and do a basting stitch and stitch away. *4U

I tried doing that first and it got my nerves (Murphy's Law must have stopped by) ;< Do you pin it before you put it on the machine? TIA ;D *2U

Yes, you do - go to PM and see pictures.

Could you please PM me the same? Can all machines do the basting? Mine Bernina Deco.

Don't over tighten. Overtightening is what causes the burn. If you can't get it taunt, add a material with the design shape cut out of the center to take up the excess room in between your inner and outer hoop. What Marji said about velvet or anything that "crushes" is correct- DON'T HOOP IT. .

I do a basting stitch and then you don't need to hoop and stitches come out easily when finished

Monica, if it's velvet or something that's going to show a mark, use the sticky stabilizer. Hoop the stabilizer, then stick the fabric to the stabilizer without hooping the fabric. That should solve your problem. Hugs, Marji
