Oh dear! My memory is failing me. Within the last couple of days, I was at a site with a lot of college logos and said that they were adding more all the time. I think it was a legitimate site - I try not to visit dubious ones. If I can figure out where, I will be sure to add report it. Maybe some of our search experts can find it faster than I can. In the meantime, Welcome to Cute! You won't find a nicer, more helpful group anywhere.

So sorry Garnetrose, all these team logos are copyright by the team, and they sell licenses to people to put them on blankets, cups, jersys, etc. I'm putting this explanation here, not as a "lecture" to you, but as information for all the newbies who may be wondering what "licensed" or "copyright" designs are. If you see a team logo on something, know that the manufacturer has paid big money to be allowed to use it. That's how the teams make money, by "licensing" their logo to manufacturers. Some companies, like Dakota Collectibles, are large enough to pay the license fees. I know they have NASCAR designs, but it took them a year to get all the permissions and paperwork done, to say nothing of a lot of money. So, if you see team designs on somebody's website for free, the artwork used was illegally stolen, they do not have any permission to use it. And, if they are found out by the team, they can be prosecuted for theft of intellectual property, all their computers and sewing machines confiscated, pay hefty fines, and possibly do jail time. The same holds true for all copyright material, that includes Disney and all cartoon and comic book characters, Hello Kitty and all the Sanrio characters, etc. It's not wise to deal with illegal designs. And, whether you get caught or not, it's wrong. If you doubt that they will prosecute, be aware that a woman was just fined $40,000 for putting up songs she had purchased for free download on her website. Be safe in getting designs, Cuties! Hugs, Marji

Sorry about that. I am not sure what the rule is in the States, but I would think it is very much like the rule in Australia. All sporting teams license their logos, team names, colours, etc. They sell the licence as a means of making money for the teams. So it is a definite no no. There is a difference between licensed designs, logos pictures, etc,and just straight out copyright. If it was an unlicensed logo, it would have been ok, with their permission, to digitize it for personal use. But I don't think it is.

That would be a licensed logo? A definite no no from me.
