look at everything they can click "all" when they are looking at posts. Use the appropriate tags and it will save people time when they are looking for certain subjects. It will also cut down on duplicate posts because, for example, if you posted a new freebie on general and somebody is looking in designs they won't see it so they may post it again.
22019 You know--the newbies used to get advice how to post with their "welcomes", but I don't recall seeing that any more. Maybe we can start giving them Marji's link. (but some of the people posting designs and freebies to general aren't Newbies at all)
7179 I just wish people would quit complaining about things that aren't really important and just enjoy this wonderful site ... this is really petty... come on...
by marjialexa 02 Aug 2009
No, it's petty that nobody can take the time to make an extra click. It will make absolutely NO difference in the way you use this site!! It will just make it easier for those of us who use the search functions, etc. But heaven forbid any of you "Christians" should make it easier for anybody to do anything. Excuse my very high pain day, my temper is short. But if the shoe fits, wear it. You create such a tempest in a teapot over an insiginficant issue because you have no real lives. You WANT to be upset about something, all the time. My way or the highway. The people that can't follow one simple direction are the ones that are being petty and downright obstinate.

By emerging from where I usually lurk these days to comment on the seemingly perpetual cycle of 'Them' versus 'Us'; it seems I must be cast with the villans as I also support the rules of this wonderful family or group. All nations, societies or communitys NEED some laws, rules or guidelines (whatever you wish to term them) to function well for the good of all. Hence the guidelines set out by Marjialexa at the behest of the site owner..so don't make this very giving lady the 'lion-bait' in this circus. To those of us who have long been members of this wonderful group, it is obvious that with each large influx of newbies - who do not necessarily know the rules involved in the smooth running of the site; we tend to go through this high drama when it is suggested that there are RULES to be observed so that ALL may enjoy the site. NOBODY is suggesting that the posting of freebie sites should be stopped - just posted correctly. So everyone CALM DOWN and take note of the laws of this community to make it a much happier place for ALL. In another 12 months from now, look back and see if I'm right in suggesting that there will be a similar kerfuffle over the same issues?
20779 This is such a stupid complaint and oh so childish.I have no problem with this site and how it's.Just the people that have nothing better to do with their time then to complain about crap that doesn't matter at all.Just very helpful to most of us.Get over it and grow up/Shadoe
by marjialexa 02 Aug 2009
Yes, it's a "stupid complaing" on your part, because nobody is asking you to not post free designs!!! Can anybody in this country read English? Just put them in the 'designs' category, one mouse click, wow, end of the world as we know it. I'm glad 'you' have no problem with the site, and the whole world revolves around what 'you' want, doesn't it? The rest of us don't count at all. I'm tired of not being counted, lady.
3028 I have tried it before, click on Designs at the bottom and it still put the freebie under General. Must I click on designs first and then the post, because I first put the info and then click on designs, and Wallah - it goes to General! Sorry about that
by marjialexa 02 Aug 2009
Babsie, you should be able to click on the "designs" choice, then it will appear in the box instead of "general". Then in the box below that, you can add freebie, alphabet, whatever. Is it not working? You should be able to do this either before you write, or after, but you have to do it before you submit the question. If I can help further, let me know. Hugs, Marji
by babsie 02 Aug 2009
Marji, I think it happens because I do not put anything in the box below it, will add freebie or whatever next time. Mugs
by marjialexa 02 Aug 2009
Hey, so mug me! Hee hee hee. Putting anything in the box below really shouldn't make any difference, but you can try it, see if it works. Thank you for at least trying. Hugs, Marji
3083 Sorry, I probably should have warned you this post would be like kicking an anthill, yet again. As they say on Blue Collar Comedy Tour, "you can't fix stupid." And you can't take "drama" out of people's lives who live and breathe drama, and think it's the way to live. And that anything and everything is a personal affront, meant to destroy their very way of life. Um, remember you're typing on a computer, this isn't 'real life'. It's about putting a design in thread on a piece of cloth, not kidnapping your firstborn child. Follow directions? Nah, let's start a war over it instead, just to show we have "rights". Put on your 'big girl' panties and get over it. This isn't the real world. Hugs, because if I didn't care about you, I wouldn't try to stop you from acting like fools. Marji

August Challenge--embroider on Big Girl Panties! :) I'll have to get out my mega-hoop for that.
22366 I agree, using the tags Veronika put up makes looking for what you want so much easier. And it's just a matter of one extra click before submitting a question, I don't understand why people feel offended by that. It's so generous we can post freebies at all.
38202 Whats so terrible about this I find no problem. In fact I'm greatful that the special cutie keeps us informed so well.Seems like their are always a few that you just can't please no matter what.Evertone is wrong but that person. Why cause so many waves?Shadoe

Thank-You for putting this here, but now you are going to be attacked, too. But you are brave enough to do it! THANKS
by marjialexa 02 Aug 2009
I find it fascinating that asking people to put posts in the categories that have been set up by the website owner is seen as an "attack". Why does asking people to follow a simple directive provoke such an uproar? Nobody's asking you to stop posting, just make ONE click on "designs" category. Perhaps you might be "brave" enough to try that.

7179 One more time, I am adding the link to a tutorial I wrote about posting freebies. The tutorial was written with Veronika's blessings, to try and straighten this mess out. I have written a whole series of tutorials, which can be accessed by clicking on the blue word 'tutorial' to your left, and searching for my avatar. I wholeheartedly agree, if people would just pay attention and put things in reasonable categories, the site would be SO much easier to navigate. But good luck with that, if you notice, this tutorial was written back in December of last year. Best of luck, Marji

Agree and Marji you did a marv elous job to write these tutorials. It makes things so much easier. Thanks for that :0)
22366 An addition to my previous answer
THANK YOU to all cuties who work so hard to
make this site a pleasurable and infomative
place to visit.

33241 These tips are so useful to newbies posting
here, as it's quite natural to just
type the question and click submit without
realizing that there are catagories.
I've learned to much reading the post
like this one of yours. Thanks so much for
your efforts to help make this site work to
it's full advantage.
Keep it up sewmom - (thats if it isn't
stressing you out that is! :)
Kind regards jjjj

I second the benefit of orienting newbies. As a long time lurker, I have just begun "getting involved", but I do wish there was someplace where I could have gone as a newbie to learn. For example, I just learned the other day that coming to the site via http://www.embroiderytop.com/index.... moves the site up in the ratings. Had I known that before, I would have voted for the site earlier. As a newbie, I did not think to look in tutorials ~ I have since and found them very helpful ~ because in most sites I found that to be related to.
I wonder if we could add another popular topic that says "welcome" or "newbies" and leads to the important features (and please, please an explanation about the flowers ;)). I'm not even sure the best person to ask for this, so I added it to your comment.
Thank you.
