I see a bunch of them around and think they
would be fantastic to make, but am a bit
aprehensive. They all have such nice satin
stitching around the edges - how do you get
that? I'm thinking you cut around it,
close to the stitching, but how do you do
that without cutting INTO the stitching?
Any helpful hints/tips you can offer would
be greatly appreciated.
And...speaking of this, does anyone know
where to go to get a 'blank' door
hanger that I can decorate myself?

53770 thank you for asking this. I've got some that I've been wanting to try and this will help get me started. * 4 all :)
2971 I don't know if this is the correct way to do it but this is how I do it. I put a piece of paper in my hoop and stitch out the first stitch which will give you the exact out line of the hanger. This is done without thread so you can punch the design out like paper dolls.I then cut out my piece of pellex using the cut out for my pattern. I leave the paper piece in my hope and using spray addhesive i put my hanger cut out on to a piece of tear away stablizer. Now you can remove the paper and you are readt to start stitching out the hanger without having to cut anything out and risking cutting your satin stitches. Hope this is clear and helps. As for a blank pattern. I just chose a hanger with a outer design that I liked and with my design software i deleted the design and
6606 Embroidery library has various door
hangers, they are done in the hoop. They
have very detailed instructions here, hope
this helps

Thanks for the info. I was getting lost trying to understand what you wrote, but grafiau sent me the link to what you were trying to communicate to me. I am a visual learner, so this helped me lots. Thanks for your written instructions!
