I was wondering what sort of tools of the trade that you have - that you can not do a project without using most of them? See picture of mine:

The first most important tool I have is my ironing board. I cannot hoop sitting down, so I hoop at the ironing board! (I cannot cut out fabric with pattern pinned on sitting down, gotta stand!) Then, is most definately the 3 or 4 pair of scissors I have. I have a pair for just about every job!

Since I moved my machine, I need some light along with my tweezers and embriodery scissors that settles it...FIESTA ;D *2U

This might show up twice because something glitched the first time I tried it. BUT...I keep a straight edge razor tool near by.I use it to carefully cut my project loose if it bunches while embroidering. Usually manage to cut it loose without leaving a hole in the project. I also use it to shave away the mess left behind on the back of the project. I have saved quite a few projects this way. Time consuming, but sometimes a better option than throwing the whole thing away.

The tools I use the most are my little scissors. I also have several pair and I have to hide them from my hubby, or he will lose them. I have never seen some of the items you have Shirlene. What do you use the scissors (third item from the right) with the big side for?

Those r applique scissors blessinge, to trim the applique after u stitch it.

shirlener88 by shirlener88 02 Dec 2008

Ardith, as Lillian has said for applique triming - they are called Duck Bill Applique Scissors - when you trim the material away during applique - it makes it so much easier - the bill guides itself along the thread line - so smooth and slick - Hehehe!

blessinge by blessinge 06 Apr 2009

Thanks for the info Lillian and Shirlene. I definitely need to get a pair of these as I love to applique.

raels, I am left handed - so I have had to adapt how I use them - compared to how they are supposed to be used - but you run one of the bills along the material and it will guide you - along the stitching line - I love them for applique work.

mandor64 by mandor64 30 Nov 2008

Shirlene, I apologize for my ignorance, don't know exact names of items you show us, but two things I cannot work without are: the little scissors (have got 3 of them, and still when I need them cannot find them.. ha..) and the love of my life... the screwdriver! (I like to get my brush into the tight spots of my embrmachine to clean her.. ha..). Now got to bed and have a good night sleep! ha.. hugs Mary

shirlener88 by shirlener88 30 Nov 2008

Mary, thank you - I appreciate your comments - but it is way to early for me to get to bed dear. Hehehe! Hugs, Shirlene

Hey, I could warn you in case of any "attacks" from the *Avenging Giant Scary Monster Embroidery Machine* ... ha.. We put our poor machines to work, don't we!? Hugs, Mary
