2626 Disney is rather protective of who they let
use their icons and characters. I see no
licensing number or icon and certainly no
logo licensing permission statement from
Disney on this web page any place that says
they have the rights to legally and
properly sell / give away designs using
these copyrighted images...
If I am wrong I hope someone can please
correct me...where is their licensing
statement?
If not then please be aware that even
downloading these images / fonts is an
illegal act...
Some people posting these designs may not
know these facts...others my dodge the
bullet by changing their url's to
avoid being caught... Sooner or later
tho... it all catches up with people...even
if they are ignorant to the fact that they
are distributing 'stolen' icons
in their designs...and yes, even if they
give away such designs for free it is
illegal.
Prosecution for such infringement does
occur...do people get away with it...yes,
for a while sometimes.
Think about it like this, if it was your
artwork, your livelihood, your characters,
would you want someone else stealing and
using it? The same laws that protect Disney
protects us 'little guys' too.
Right is right... regardless of how some
people may justify it.
Copyrighted Clip Art—Limited Legal
Use:
"Some copyrighted clip art is not open
to any public use. For example, you'd
be hard pressed to get a legal image of
Disney's® Mickey Mouse© for display
on your commercial website unless you are a
licensed reseller of Disney products.
Legally, you can't even copy an image
of a Disney character to make your own
personal T-shirt."

They don't have a license as far as I know. I emailed them some months ago with that specific question. The answer I got was that they do it for free, that you are not to share or sell and you had to see it as a friend borrowing you something. In other words they DON'T have a license. And so it's ILLEGAL to download them, let alone use them. I recently had a talk with my brother, who's a lawyer, about it. He said that although it is illegal in the Netherlands as well, there is no active investigation, that's up to the copyright owner. But once cought the courts aren't very lenient.

Funny thing is on their homepage they complain about people sharing their embroidery designs, don't seem to understand that applies for someone else's artwork as well!
