If my maths is correct that's over 7
times the amount of storage.
Make sure you round up Everything you want
to save before you write to the Disc and if
you copy individual folders instead of
doing a back up, it is less likely that any
virus (you may inadvertantly copy as well)
will be able to attack as they become inert
if the environment is not an active one
like your pc is.
*****I can't stress enough the
importance of doing this as well as backing
up your work******
If you only back up (and should your back
up contain a virus) then, when the time
comes that you need to restore from your
back up copy, YOU WILL RESTORE THE VIRUS
TOO!!!

21296 thanks so you are saying if in folders they will be safe from virus????

Viruses are usually created to ATTACK .exe (executable) files or program or hardware drivers, files that your computer accesses to do it's job that you normally aren't even aware of.
Their purpose is much different to how you actually get them.
The B%%%$#@s who create them have learnt how to attach/hide them within all sorts of files, as well as websites, but most often, they are hidden within .exe files or movie files, power point presentations, word documents, zip files, screensavers, wallpapers, etc., anything you may download from the net, or receive as an email attachment, that contains instructions, (program language) more than what is visible to you as just a user.
You are always at risk while ever you partake in any of these activities. I'm sure it is also possible to attach viruses to design files as they contain massive amounts of instructions to tell your (computerised) embroidery machine how and what to do.
I am hoping that our design files have not become targets, but if Anti-virus programs cannot detect new viruses until they have been told to look for that perticular virus, then we are still at possible risk. The only difference with storing your files outside of the computer environment is exactly that, the virus can't activate unless it is in a working environment.
I hope this explanation helps. hugs and roses, Meganne
