How do I design a verse or saying ?

I'd like to machine embroidery a Bible verse. I have a Singer Futura. It has software for lettering, but I've never got it "nice" enough--dense enough. What software do some of you experience people use ? Surely there's someway to type in text and press a button to get a nice design... Still a newbie...

I don't have the Futura, but I have the XL6000. I don't care for the on-board lettering packs. I use software to combine fonts or create my own. If you'd like me to do that for you and sent you a Singer file, just let me know.

Ann, check out your software that came with your machine. I don't know about Singer, because I have the Janome & Janome Digitizer Pro, but you should have a density setting somewhere. Play with the software, you really can't hurt anything. If you really paint yourself into a corner, you can close the whole thing out and start again. Just open a screen (new file, new hoop, whatever they call it in your software) and start poking away. See what the different buttons do, usually you can go to 'undo' or hit the backspace bar to erase what you just did. You can't hurt your computer by playing with your software, worst you can do is waste time, best is learn. Go for it! Let us know how you make out. Marji

Thank you. I know I should do that today. Just grab some fabric and give it a try again.

Yes, I think if you got software when you bought your machine you can probably do that very nicely. I have 4D Extra and it works well.

I have 3D Emb Software with my Hus. and I love it. You can do lettering and change designs, and even create some of your own with their pictures that come with it. I'd like to get 4D Software, but too many $$$$$. LOL. *4U

I'm going to get brave and tackle that software that came with the machine today. One of the main things I wanted to do with my machine was to embroider words and inspiring messages, so it is time to learn how ! Thanks. *4U

Sue, do you have softwared - to view or edit your designs in your PC? If you do not - more than likely - you will have to get another to work it out for you - email me the verse - I will see what I can do - look in profile for email addy. If you have software - perhaps I can help walk you through it via email. Wishing you the best.

Shirlene, thanks for your offer to help. I will try the software that came with my machine and make some density I have not tried working on the density-- I guess I was a little afraid of it, but I'll jump in and it will be nice to know I can email you for special help. Hugs & Thanks. *4U

If you have software that can combine designs and make lettering it's quite easy. The day I came home with my first software I had to make my SIL a gift for his boss, a barbecue apron with the names of all his colleagues and a verse from Macbeth, as he was a Shakespeare lover. Hardest thing was to line the names out vertically, I literally put a ruler to my monitor as the software had no automatic vertical spacing. I now have the complete 3D Pro, but then I only had what they called the "customizing". Can you adjust the density in "settings" or something similar? That should do the trick. Here's my take on Macbeth. Typed in a line at a time and the software did the rest.

I guess I better try the software that came with the machine again and do some adjusting to density. I will also check out 3D Pro, which I had not heard of until your note. Thanks a bunch. *4U
