The format I looked at was PES, and I can assure you there were some definite problems in the lower part of this design. The idea of the program used and/or the conversion as a possible lace problem is an excellent observation. Everything you do to a design changes it is some way. I know that "Sick" has several people that digitize for them, who use different programs, and sometimes do correct problems after feedback. Another possibility is that the cross pieces, although not where they should be, are just close enough to the final satin, that if a fabric style stabilizer (stretch issue) is used, it just catches based on compensation. If a heavy film stabilizer is used, maybe there was just enough stretch to make the difference. If lace is properly digitized, except for those designs that have movable parts, either type of stabilizer should work.

Thanks for the confirmation. I do some digitizing with Janome Digitizer Pro, manually, but am nowhere near an expert. Sometimes I think designs are not tested by enough people with different formats before they are put up for sale, whether by SiCK or others. My Janome 300E seems very forgiving, but other machines may be trickier. Besides, I'm using the software made for my machine, it better understand what I'm talking about, hee hee hee. I never did any FSL, this doesn't make me anxious to try. Marji

Maria, I'm so sorry you had such a horrible experience! I left part of this comment under the angels in Projects, but I thought I'd bring it up here, too. Since Linda (Babyred) had her angel turn out so nice, I wonder if it's in the file conversion, not the original design. Perhaps the digitizer used a program that digitizes in, say, PES, and when they convert to other formats, something gets messed up in the conversion. Linda, do you use PES or JEF? And Maria, which do you use? I'd be interested to find this out, because I've heard some people say they have problems with SiCK's designs, and others have no problems at all. Makes me curious. I don't find problems with them, though I don't use a lot of their designs. I use JEF, and I do know that some of the digitizers use Janome Customizer and Digitizer Pro to digitize. Just a thought... what do others think? Marji

I left a message in projects also, but wanted to add here, too. I haven't tried any of the angels, but I have done other FSL from their site. It all turned out beautifully. I even made a few doilies for my mom and she loved them! She's one to know, too, because she collects victorian stuff. So sorry this happened to you. I'm not one to analize designs, as I am just starting to digitize myself. FSL is one thing I would love to learn how to do, though. Does anyone know of any information out there on the subject? (of how to create FSL designs)

Great save with your angel. Happens to us all at some time or other. Today I was embroidering a towel for my brothers wedding present - not sure what happened but the design went so wrong, I cut the towel up and will make handtowels from the rest of it! Decided it was time to stop sewing for the day!!

for a messy design, you did pretty well. Thanks for letting us know, I am not a fan of Sick's designs. Did one once and it was not so great since then I have not done any other of their designs
