Hi Meg... do you have any of Carolyn Keber's tutorials? If so, how do you like them and which ones do you recommend for someone new to Embird? I'm probably going to buy the program but would like to begin digitizing my own artwork... I'm assuming the basic package and font engine is what I need? Any suggestions? I'd be grateful. Thaks Meg. xoxo

Hi Teri, I bought the Step by Step Guide to Embird 2006 downloadable book for $64.95 and so far i've only managed to read up to page 50. LOL! It's pretty extensive & I wish I had more patience to sit with it and the program, but then again I really haven't needed it and may have been better off postponing it's purchase until I figured out how much help i needed. The great thing is if you buy her larger manuals it entitles you to free membership of her club and you can then download all her mini-tutorials (over 35 in all) and all her future mini-tuts all for free. I have them all but haven't even opened any of them yet. I guess it depends how easy you find it to learn. Embird has an XLNT onscreen tutorial type help manual (free) to download and attach to the program. You may even consider looking at Rosanne Birkey's tutorials, you should at least join her Embirdtime group, you learn so much just from reading the posts there.
Basic Embird doesn't allow you to digitise, for that you need Studio, which includes Sfumato. Font engine only allows you to create text from TT fonts, it's quite functional to add whole words to your designs without importing each letter individually. I bought all modules except Cross Stitch and pre-digitised Alphabets, figured i don't need them. Have you visited Secretsof Embroidery Website? I keep recommending them because not only are they cheaper but if you join their free club you earn bonus points (dollars) to spend there and for every purchase over $30 you can choose a free SET of designs. You can download EMbird free 30 day trial, then register each module separately and thus end up with 5 free sets. Kool! Holler if you want more info, emad is in my profile. hope this helps, hugs n roses, M
